The Squashed Tomato on The Strand in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter, opened its doors on 6th November 2017.
Owner, Anna Haynes, had previously owned The Delicafe @ Brailsford, which was successful for the 5 years that it was open.
The unit on The Strand became vacant and Anna decided to grab the opportunity to move to a City Centre location and take her successful formula to a wider audience.
Anna goes on to tell us what that “formula” is. “It’s pretty simple really – we offer the warmest welcome in comfortable surroundings.
We serve really great coffee and a wide variety of award-winning lose leaf teas. All our food is homemade with real passion for flavour and presentation.
Our returning customers have told us that it’s because of the warmth and familiarity, as well as the tasty food that they return.”
Anna truly believes that there are many people who are fed up with the generic, big name high street coffee shops and eateries.
Customers want more independents that offer value for money and a bit of individuality, along with simple, delicious, home cooked food rather than mass produced and pre-packaged.
If this is the sort of thing you are looking for, then The Squashed Tomato is well worth a visit!
They are child friendly with baby changing facilities and a children’s menu. There is wheelchair access.
The venue is available for bespoke private gatherings – baby showers, Birthdays, three course evening meals. They also do fabulous, pre-bookable afternoon teas too!
Give The Squashed Tomato a go! We hear Anna’s Cider Rarebit is to die for!!
