HEADLINING THE EYES HAVE IT MUSIC FESTIVAL 2019

Ska Wars is an established 6 piece band of fun loving musicians whose energy knows no bounds. We have been playing the national circuit for 15 years providing authentic and enthusiastic performances. We have played several hundred shows in that time including pubs and clubs, corporate events, weddings, birthdays and national festivals, to name a few.

With a charismatic front-man and energetic band, Ska Wars never fails to get the audience up and moving to the 2-tone classics of the Specials, Madness, Bad Manners and the Selector. We also pay homage to the birth of Ska, performing tracks by Toots and the Maytals, Desmond Dekker and Jimmy Cliff.

Ska Wars insists on performing completely live, playing songs the way they should be heard. Our standard ‘Madness’ line-up consists of drum kit, bass, guitar, keyboards, tenor sax and lead vocals, alongside band backing vocals. We also offer deluxe line up options including either an extra brass player for the full ‘Specials’ sound, or an additional singer/front man, giving the show an extra dimension.

We aim to provide clients with the ideal musical experience for their event, and are willing to negotiate on everything from the number of musicians, to the number of sets, and any special song requests. Typical sets range from 2×45 minutes to 2×60 minutes, but if anything else is preferred then we’d like to hear from you! We can also provide playlist music for your event, which can range from Ska and Reggae, to background jazz, or full on party disco. Client playlists are also welcomed.

Over the years we’ve supported artists such as: The Selector; Aswad; Geno Washington; Jools Holland with Rico Rodriguez (The Specials); Chaz and Dave; Bill Bailey. On an individual level, our sax player regularly performs with Bad Manners, while our drummer is currently playing in Status Quo.

SKA WARS SET LIST

Standard Set Lengths are 2 x 45 minutes or 2 x 60 minutes

These are the set lengths people often ask for and they work well for most occasions. We are of course, happy to oblige if you want something different and we can play 1 long set or 3 sets, more material or less material. We’re basically open to most requests as long as there are no backing tracks involved!

BOOKING INFO

We’re available to play at a whole host of venues and events, and we try not to quote everyone the same standardised booking fee.

We aim to be as accomodating as possible for clients and quote a fee based on factors such as:

  • Type of event
  • Event location
  • PA and lighting requirements
  • Length of performance
  • Standard or Super Deluxe band line up
  • Occasionally, date / time of performance (eg: New Year’s Eve)

We always aim to negotiate a fair price for both clients and band members and feel the best practice is for people to contact us with their event details and any musical ‘wish list’, and we’ll try to make it happen.

We thrive off a good crowd at gigs and the best crowd is full of happy campers!
