Michael Moore, a gifted, multi-skilled and versatile business owner from Derby, first started his business; MM Drum School in 2014.
As a young ambassador and strong supporter of The Prince’s Trust, Michael is passionate about helping others and is a winner of a Community Champions award by local press for successfully developing disadvantaged children.
For a long time Michael had the idea of creating a drum school. His credibility to become an entrepreneur along with good teaching skills from working in schools and the music industry, has allowed him to kick start his business which is built around customer requirements.
His model is based on helping people with special needs and is very unique. Michael’s drum school is the only place that teaches bespoke, special needs programmes and was created by Michael on the basis of helping his clients of all ages feel rhythm and sound. Michael explained that “no lesson is the same” as teaching and playing music comes naturally to him. As well as bespoke special needs programmes, MM Drum School also offers popular mainstream drum lessons.
In 2017 after experimenting his business model in different venues and working in a small studio, he finally established his drum school in larger purpose built premises with a dedicated sound proofed music room situated just a two minute walk from the train and bus station on New Street, Derby.
After several award nominations and finals, Michael expanded the business due to his growing success. His brother Matt joined MM Drum School as an Administrator/Technician playing a vital role in infrastructure development. Theo Kay, a popular drum teacher and Lauren Louise who is an assistant and works as a volunteer also joined the drum school. New services opened such as Media & IT studies, African djembe workshops, Room hire for tutor groups & private teachers.
